Diy Baby Leg Warmers From Socks Easy
Use this incredibly simple sewing tutorial to turn a pair of socks into baby leg warmers. Perfect for holidays or any day!
Let me be completely honest with you: I have some issues with baby leg warmers. I just prefer tights. For one thing, I like a clean look, so I prefer no breaks from toe to belly when I'm looking at my baby's outfit. The other issue I have is that I amalwayscold. I have always layered up and tried my darndest to never let cold air dance across my skin. My mom used to tease me for tucking my pajama pants into my socks at night. But I wanted to keep my ankles warm! So, as you can imagine, looking at any exposed skin between baby leg warmers and diaper covers on a baby makes me shiver. I like to err on the side of over-bundling my babies.
Except here's the thing: tights are so dang expensive. And they don't usually come in wild holiday pattern. But you know what does? $3 women's knee high socks at Walmart. And that, my friends, is what convinced me to move to the dark side and make my little princess a pair of baby leg warmers.
I was astonished at how simple this process was when my friend Stephanie showed me some that she had made, and so I am going to teach you how to make some today. Don't waste your money on ridiculously overpriced baby leg warmers at a boutique! Buy some women's knee high socks and let's get to work!
Baby Leg Warmers Tutorial
Start by buying some fun trouser and/or knee-high socks. They can be wild or they can be tame. That is up to you.
Get ready to cut. You are going to use part of the sock's "foot" for the band of your leg warmers. You will see what I mean.
Cut off the "foot" of your leg warmer. Make sure it's a straight line! Youcould use a ruler. I just "eyeballed" it.
Now cut the heel and the toe off of your sock and save the center part, as shown above. Once again, strive for straight lines.
Now fold the center of your sock "foot" in half so that you have a clean fold on one side and the rough sides are together, as shown above.
Put the tube you just folded around the main sock, lining up the rough edges of the small folded tubeand the main sock.
Pin the tube in place in preparation for sewing.
Slowly sew the two sock pieces together. Be sure to backstitch!
Now your round ends are connected, as shown above. Remove the pins. YOU ARE DONE! For real.
Push the rough ends in and you will see what I mean. You really are DONE!
Voila! You could whip out a ton of these babies in an hour! They would make fabulous cheap, personal baby shower gifts, don't you think?!
